Road to The Wood Calling

On weekends as Hale grew up, Sonny started teaching Hale how to build items and how to use tools safely. 

Their joint woodworking and learning produced models of U.S. aircraft carriers, the Titanic, golf clubs, hockey sticks and picture frames.  Anything with wheels was a Hale favorite!

Sonny and Hale started building these items with Sonny using the power tool then shifting the project to Hale for him to use hand tools.  Sonny introduced battery powered tools and Hale's skills and creativity took off!

The Wood Calling has a great respect for tools and workshop safety.  Sonny teaches Hale tool usage and safety.  Sonny builds jigs, adapts battery and power tools for Hale to be able to use a tool on his own.  Independence in the workshop is a daily goal.  As Hale and Sonny create new products, if they encounter difficulties, they find solutions.  

You’ll find Sonny and Hale out in the shop every spare minute they have, working on projects and you’ll see them working together and separately.

Sonny could be turning a bowl or creating a cutting board while Hale could be creating a handcrafted sign.  From cutting boards and handcrafted signs, The Wood Calling was built.

It’s amazing to see what these two create!  They answer the wood’s calling.
